Remake of the Bollywood super-hit film3 IdiotsNanban happens to be Shankar’s first-ever attempt at remaking a hit from another language.  The film appears to have hit it off with the masses and the fans of the trio of actors in Vijay, Jeeva and Srikanth.  Instead of the usual grandeur associated with a Shankar film, the film has its strength pinned to its script which has its origin in the Hindi version.

The film, said to be a scathing attack on the present day mug-up-and-score-marks educational system, has got a shot in the arm with the State Government announcing exemption from ‘entertainment tax’ for the film in theatres.  This is the first film to be granted such exemption under the new regime which took over the State’s administration last summer.

Shankar considers this as a major plus for his film and is happy that his first film with Vijay (with Srikanth and Jeeva too) has turned out to be a successful venture.  If the film goes on to become a hit, it would be a hat-trick of sorts for Vijay, whose last two films viz., Kavalan and Velayudham have also been declared hits last year.

Shankar is said to be planning his next film with Vikram in the lead.  The Anniyan team is all set to rock once again, much to the glee of fans and movie-goers!
