Slowly but steadily, comedian Santhanam has found his way to the top. Thanks to Vivek churning out stale comedy show film after film in recent times and due to the continued absence of another challenger Vadivelu, it’s Santhanam who has been silently making merry as film-makers are literally left with no choice but to turn to him.

It was Santhanam who starred in the most number of films last year; from what one hears, it appears that the trend is likely to continue in 2012 as well, as Santhanam has his hands full and has agreed to many projects which are yet to go off the blocks.
Santhanam is all set to play an important role in a film to be directed by debutant Selvakumar, who had assisted the likes of K.S Ravikumar and A.Venkatesh and has worked in more than 100 films as on date. The film to be made by Selvakumar is likely to star Mirchi Siva, Santhanam, Nakul, Premji Amaren and many others and is billed as a full-length comedy.
Incidentally, Santhanam had won the ‘best comedian’ for 2011 thanks to his performances in films like Siruthai. His role as a petty thief along with hero Karthi in Siruthai earned him many accolades, his one-liners standing out as usual.
Santhanam recently had another release in Vinayaga which stars little-known Krishnadu and Sonia Deepti. The film is said to be doing well thanks to Santhanam’s comedy section. Jeeva also play significant roles in upcoming films like Saguni with Karthi and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (OKOK) which is directed by Rajesh of Siva Manasula Sakthi fame. Incidentally, OKOK also marks the debut of Udhayanidhi as hero in Tamil films.
Santhanam has reportedly signed up to play the lead role in an upcoming film Makkal Raman, which is a remake film!
