Tamil film industry has proposed to strike work on 15th December and hold a fast in Chennai for one day to express their solidarity with the State on the dam row with Kerala.
Almost all the trade bodies of Tamil film association is expected to come together on the day and hold a fast. Since the honchos of Tamil Film Producers Council were out of town on Monday and Tuesday, a final decision on the date would be taken today.
Meanwhile, Tamilnadu Theatre Owners Association has decided to close all theatres comprising 2,300 screens in the State for one day.
‘The closure for one day is confirmed and most probably all screens would be shut on 15th December probably’, the office-bearers of the association said.
The one-day closure is to condemn the Kerala government’s intransigent stand on the dam issue, and support and strengthen Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s stand and reflect the sentiments of the people on the issue.
