Boycott CIFF – Ameer urges Tamilnadu CM

Stating that the organisors of Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) have sidelined films like Thenmerkku Paruvakattru (that won National award) and Sengadal that was screened at the Indian Panorama section in Goa Film Festival, Ameer urged Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to boycott the inaugural ceremony to be held in Chennai today.

It is unfortunate that such a film festival being organised with funds from Tamilnadu government has sidelined such films. Hence I request you not to participate in the film festival, he said.

The festival will kick-start today with veteran Hollywood filmmaker Shekhar Kapur taking part in the event. Movies from 44 countries would be screened at the event that has entire Tamil film industry participating in large numbers.

Sarathkumar, Radhika, Rohini, Lissy Priyadharhan among others are actively involved in the event.
