Director Dharani treated actor Simbu to a sumptuous biryani recently. Simbu has just wrapped up the shooting of his upcoming film Osthi directed by Dharani. Osthi is the remake of the Bollywood hit film Dabbangg and marks ‘comeback’ of director Dharani, whose last film was the Vijay-Trisha starrer Kuruvi which bombed miserably at the box-office.
With films such as Dil, Dhool and Ghilli in his kitty, Dharani had already proved that he had what it takes to become a commercially successful director. Still, he badly needed a hit film to sustain his standing in the industry and decided to direct the Simbu-starrer which has debutant Richa Gangopadhyay pairing up opposite Simbu. The film has music by Thaman and a hot ‘item number’ by Bollywood’s Mallika Sherawat.
Simbu reportedly underwent a strict diet vis-à-vis his eating in order to prepare himself and to tone up his muscles to suit his character of a tough cop in the film. The climax sequence, involving a fiery fight between Simbu and Sonu Sood, was recently shot in Chennai at a single stretch. Simbu hit the gym hard and did many rigorous exercises so as to match Sonu’s physique in the climax where he takes off his shirt while fighting.
Soon after the shoot was over, Dharani treated the crew including Simbu to a sumptuous non-vegetarian biryani which wasn’t part of Simbu’s food regimen for the past two months. Needless to add that Simbu had a go at the food and said that he was quite happy to treat himself to a grand food after a long gap.
