Mankatha is a hit not only in Tamil Nadu but also in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. In Kerala, Ajith does not have a huge fan following like Rajnikanth or many other actors. Yet, Mankatha has been termed a super hit and is the numero uno at the box office.
Within the first week, Mankatha had collections of about Rs. 1 crore in Kerala. Mankatha is next only to Endhiran:The Robot in the opening weekend collections in both Chennai and Kerala. Endhiran had collections of about Rs. 9 crore in nine weeks after which the collections were Rs. 14 crore in about 100 days.
Not even a Malayalam film has surpassed this record. No other Tamil film, including Ko, had such collections. But when Mankatha entered the box offices of both Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, it took them in its control by a storm.
Looks like Ajith’s magic has also begun working in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. When Tamil movies are making their presence felt outside the state, actors like Karthi, Vishal and Surya had done their best to keep hold of the box office there. Now, Ajith too has joined them and will soon be a Superstar in all the South Indian regional film industries.
Ajith to Meet the Press?
Ajith may not enjoy press conferences or events like audio launch, etc. but it has been customary for him to speak to the press after each film. Now, days after the release of Mankatha, Ajith had still not embraced the press.
He gave interviews to one or two top magazines but did not do so for any other magazines or websites. This has worried each and everyone. They went on to enquire why Ajith ignored most of the magazines. When Ajith’s manager took the matter further to Ajith, the Ultimate Star had replied that he was busy with the shooting of Billa-2.

Ajith also promised that he would return to Chennai and have a few words with the rest of the media. Most of the times, he would not be willing to give exclusive interviews. But this time it was quite the opposite. Soon, the press would be happy meeting Ajith and his fans will be happy to learn what he has to say. Possibly, the next film of Ajith after Billa-2 may also be revealed. So, keep waiting for more!
Rajnikanth as Hero & Ajith as Villain?
Imagine if Rajnikanth were the hero of the film and Ajith were the villain, how would it be? This is not only the dream of fans but this is the dream of Ajith himself. Ajith is a huge fan of the Superstar that he wants to be thrashed by the Superstar himself.
Ajith played a baddie in Mankatha as we all know. In Billa-2, Ajith will play another character with negative shades. Rajnikanth played Billa in the original version. Ajith played Billa in the remake version. From the days of Vaali, it is well known negative characters suited Ajith after Rajnikanth.
After Rajnikanth, Ajith is the only one who plays villain character with a lot of zeal and style. Ajith can play both hero and villain which gives him a slight edge over other heroes who always play goody-two-shoes.
So now, what if Ajith and Rajnikanth come together? It is Thalaivar versus Thala. Tamil cinema will get to taste a never before feast, if this materializes.
Ajith wants to play villain when Rajnikanth plays hero. This is such a feast. If fans expect, it may come true, as we don’t know what will happen in the film industry. Yet, it can remain only as a dream for both Rajnikanth and Ajith fans!
