It is official now that Sai Sharan & Santosh are the winners of the Wild Card round in Airtel Super Singer 3 and they will move onto the finals of the show alongside with Pooja and Sathyaprakash. Initially Sai Sharan was announced as the winner of wild card round and he was through to the finals. Later they also announced that to give respect to public wish Santosh also gets into the finals of the Airtel Super singer. As expected the grand finals will now have 4 contestants fighting for the Airtle Super singer title.
Last season of the Super singer Junior even had similar thing where Srikanth was selected for the grand finals due to public wish and looks like that statement works out well for Vijay TV. They have followed the same footsteps this time and this will bring in more encouragement for the viewers to watch the show.
I think most of the public will be happy to see Sai Sharan given his recent performances have been mind blowing and Santosh who had been there till top 4, given the fact that he had got good backup from public. Some of us will be disappointed to miss out Srinivas and Kaushik from the show. I think they were given equal support from the viewers but when it comes to finals only one or two will get a chance.
For now, lets keep this update and discuss about many other things in a while..

Voting Closed, What to expect ?
Voting lines for choosing the Airtel Super Singer 3 finalists is closed now and we are all set to know the finalist next week. I guess there would be some promotional video coming up now with the countdown to announce the Super singer 3 grand finalist. Having said that the announcement would come next week, I expect the show to be with performances from the wild card round contestants and finalists before they announce it on friday. I think it would be on friday only ;) What do you guys think ?
Judges finalist ?
Somehow I strongly feel that Vijay TV will have atleast 4 contestants for finals and thats been the way they have done till now. So, with the finalist selected by the viewers and there might be one judges selection for the Super Singer 3 grand finale. Voting numbers looks to be very hight this time given the expectation from the viewers and the performances of the contestants. Most of the contestants for the wild card has been exceptional and made a point to reach the finals of the event. I am still surprised why they did not had Shakthi in the wild card round. I am not his fan but he was in the top list.
Grand Final
As usual with the wild card getting to an end, the expectation for the grand final has already begun. But, looking at the history of the Vijay TV having the finals, we might have quite a few weeks to breath before the finals and get ready to vote for it. We still might have celebration round, judges grand final, live grand final and before that the contestants will also perform live with public in city malls to get the experience of performaning on stage in public. With all these and few more rounds from Vijay TV might take Super Singer 3 a few weeks from now but I am sure the expectation will increase each week.
After seeing the wild card round in two weeks, we strongly urge that Vijay TV should consider selecting three contestants from wild card round for final -one by the wild card round judes and the other two by the public. Then all five can contest for Grand Final. That would be a very reasonable thing to do.
Political ?? Regional ?? Genuine ???
When it comes to Airtel Super Singer in Vijay TV, there are always multiple views on the selection criteria of the contestants and especially in choosing the winner of the show who gets the Super Singer title. This has not been just for the current season of the Super Singer but also the one which we have been speaking for years. I am not sure if this will continue in the next seasons even. Always we complaint about the selection of the contestants to get into the grand final or even into top levels of the competition. This can be taken only in 2 ways, Either the contestant is really good and you like him but not selected to the next level, Contestant is okay but choosen ahead of other better contestants.
When you take these three options – Political or Regional or Genuine in our Super singer, I would see Regional at the top of the list. There are several forums and threads that says that the Judges choose non-tamilians for the title and most of the time it ends of being contestant from Kerala/Malayalam speaking contestant. Is that just because the judges are from that state or the contestant really deserve it and better than others. I am not sure how much of true it is but I have seen this while choosing Ajeesh over Ravi in the last edition of the Super Singer. I cannot say in the case of Alka Ajith, since she was a very good singer.
Sometimes I even feel that the show managers want to have certain contestants till the top levels and judges got to abide to that. We have seen some of the contestants for no reason get going to next rounds and better deserved ones go out of the Super Singer show itself. There are some top contestants in this and last season of the show who still fair badly on stages with not much improvements.. :-) I really dont want to bring in names here and unnecessarily hurt them.
Genuine selection ? Really.. oh yeah.. We have seen many genuine selections of the contestants in the Super Singer show. If the show had been the other way round, it would not have seen multiple seasons and huge contestants and viwership. Only with few contestants the show has not been genuine and that brings up lot of fuss about it.
We tend to complaint on the selection of contestants for the grand finale or the next level in the show but since we forget soon, we start watching the next season without much compromise. This proves that the Super Singer has been the top tamil reality show and given the celebrities in the show makes it best amongst other shows.
Sai Sharan and Santhosh – Wild Card winners ?
Is this a rumour or truth ??? There is a rumour that Sai Sharan and Santosh Hariharan are selected to the finals of the Airtel Super Singer 3. As expected Sai Sharan had a great chance to get into the finals and now Santosh might join him is the rumour as winners of the wild card round.
I was expecting Srinivas to get a chance but Santosh who had been till the top 4 in the show also deserves the place. But after the wild card round performances, Srinivas proved his capability and versatility which makes him to deserve the spot. As said “makkal theerpe mahesan theerpu” but this is not really sure that its makkal theerpu or Vijay TV theerpu :)
As expected 2 contestants might be selected for the grand finale and that seems to work with Vijay TV having 4 finalists for grand grand finale which will be LIVE.
How did they perform ?
After two weeks of wild card round in Airtel Super Singer 3, this week we all are eagerly waiting for the show to announce the contestant who will get into the grand finals. I felt 2 weeks is really a big time for the wild card round but the voting will definitely make the contestants proud. It will be really big numbers but I am not sure whether Vijay TV will announce the number of votes or only the difference between the votes of the contestants. It will be nice to see how the guys performed in the wild card round.
Judges of the wild card round in Airtel Super Singer 3 were T.R. Mahalingam, Nithyashree Mahadevan, S.P. Shailaja and Sriram Parthasarathy. In the second week the contestants had other playback singers Srilekha Parthasarathy, Sunitha Sarathy, Tipu, Harini, Suchitra, Harish Ragavendra, Mathangi.
Sai Sharan
Unlucky to miss the final selection in the semi finals and when he lost the spot by just 0.5 marks its very difficult. But, I would say he came with a bang in the wild card round and his performance for the challenging song gave him a standing ovation from all the judges. He is in the top spot to get into the finals according to me.
Srinivas
When his wife said that their marriage got postponed few times due to Super Singer and Srinivas didnt perform most of his wedding activities it proved his passion for singing. Certainly a very good singer and his “Aromale” from Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya in Challenging song gave him a big boost for his spot in the finals. If at all judges will pick their contestant, I think it might be Srinivas.
Kaushik
Kaushik had been a good singer in most of his performances and there are quite many comments on his versatility but I feel his raaga based melody songs made him to exit from the show. I am not sure if its just few songs or raaga based melody genre itself gives him certain problems. He has good backup from the public and certainly has a good chance to get into the finals.
Malavika
I am not sure how much Malavika would get public backing to get into the finals but certainly she has proved certain performances that she can be a very good playback singer.
Hariharasudhan
I still remember his performance from Sami film song “thirunelveli alva da” and he has been doing well in the Super Singer show but could not get into the final stages. But, I was surprisingly happy to see him back in the show.
Dhanyashree
Her unique/different voice makes her unique in the show. She has been an effortless singer ofcourse, she has put lot of effort in preparing but her performances look like an effortless singing. I think she also has good backing from the public which might make her in top few places in the wild card results table.
Praveen
Only foreign contestant to get into top levels of the Airtel Super Singer show this year. His showmanship makes him to be in top levels in the show inspite of his little poor diction. He has good backing from the international contestants and public which might help him to some extent to get into top few spots in the results table.
Santhosh
Santhosh Hariharan shows everyone the fighting spirit for music which he has shown in the show. I think he lacks self confidence and showed explicitly in front of the judges which made him to perform less better than other contestants and got to exit from the show. He has already been doing lot of stage shows and certainly will be a playback singer soon.
Lets see what happens next week.

This season of the Airtel Super Singer has had quite a few surprises for us and which has been the way its been in the previous seasons. We dont really realise that there has been surprises given the duration of the season and its already over 60+ weeks which means almost 1 and a quarter year. I would prefer the show to run for a year but this season has been going really lengthy. First big surprise has been that the show did not had a recall round at all.. Last season they had few recall rounds which brought top 20 contestants to get a chance to get into the competition again. I was expecting a recall round after the show had top 5 contestants but the show went on till wild card.
Top 2, after the semifinals was really surprising where usually Vijay TV will have top 3 and wild card winner will join the show for the grand finals. This time Sai Sharan was eliminated to have Pooja and Sathyaprakash for the finals. Next surprise was there were no celebration round till now and they might have it after the finals. But, with the super singer junior next season registration has already started, it might be a big pressure for the show directors to finish the season soon.
Last season there was photo session with the finalists and also the final contestants performed live at city center in front of public to have a good experience of singing in public. They went onto temple before the finals in the last season. I am not sure if these would be featuring in the next week’s show but lets wait and see. Are these surprises since the show is already delayed and the season has been for more than a year ?? or is it next season of the super singer junior has got wonderful/unexpected response from public for the registration that the current season should get over soon ? or Contracts of the judges and hosts are over and got to finish it soon. What ever be the reason, its good it gets over now and junior season starts soon.

Sai Charan is the most deserving candidate and has never been appreciated through the entire show. Never thought that singers like srinivas, sujatha, and unni would stoop so low.VERY DISHEARTENING.
My votes in order: 1. Sathya Prakash (SS 01)- GOOD VOICE, GOOD ACTITUDE, 2. Santhosh – GOOD ACTITUDE 3. Pooja – Good selection of songs 4. Sai saran – OVER confident, he only belife social net working sites to support him to win the title.. not on his voice.
All the 7 singers are good but not Malavika. Santhosh and Khousik are the best. why do not you take 2 + 2 for the final. malavika should have been eliminated long back,i dont know why they were giving so many chances for her. There were so many good singers were eliminated.
Hi All! I am Hema Jai Prakash. I am a regular viewer of Airtel Super Singer 3. Wild card round in on and all contestants are giving their best. At times they are so close that it is difficult to decide to vote for whom. I feel Sai Charan is doing a tremendous job and should enter the finals. I wish him all the best. Boy you are just rocking and continue doing so. I have become a great fan of yours and so are my little daughters.
I hope Malavika doesn’t enter the finals. Over nadipu. Romba aacharamana ponnu pola. Unmailaye aacharamana ponnu ivlo seekiram epdi item songs ivlo feel oda padura. India’s leading voice expert Mr Anand Vaidyanathan must hve enjoyed a lot teaching her ‘Sivarathiri’ song. Worst attitude.
Dear Vijay TV, Please don’t depute the Playback singers Mr.Srinivas, Mr.Unnikrishnan & Mrs.Sujatha as the judges for ASS3 finale for they all are too partial towards Pooja. Even Mr.Mano is partial towards female singers. The comment by the director Mr.K.S.RaviKumar ( “Srinivas, you are a judge. You rate him by his performance and not by your personal opinion upon him”) and the statement by Mrs.Sujatha (“Nee ‘raa’va thappaa ucharichu padinaalum yenakku piddikum Pooja”) are some of the examples to the point. Please depute an apt & impartial legend playback singers who never does injustice to deserving contestants & who render judgement based upon his own wisdom in music & by the performance of the contestant and not by his personal idea over the contestants as the judges for ASS3 finale.

Vote for the one whom you like or the one who has the Talent, and deserves to be in the Finals of this Contest. POOJA not worth to be in the FINALS at all. My name is Saroja Thanabalasingam and I am from Canada. For a year, I have been a religious viewer of your show, Super Singer. I am writing this as I watch your semi-final episode. Recently, my family is starting to strongly feel that the show is running on a biased term. We can’t help but notice how the judges seem to overly favour the contestant Pooja. It seems as the marks awarded to her do not reflect the judges’ comments. Let’s take the semi-final episode as an example since it is the one that is fresh in my mind. During each of the rounds the judges seemed to note that while Pooja did a ‘good’ job, there were still many aspects and specifications on which she could improve on. However, when the time came to announce marks, Pooja received great marks. We noticed that when Satya Prakash and Sai Charan were performing, the judges noted that both contests had few flaws but still awarded them with low marks. To the viewers it seems as if the judges enjoy showering Pooja with marks. It really makes us question the integrity and reliability of this program. We wonder if the competition is ‘rigged’. And trust me, we are not the only one who feel this way; on many sites, I have encountered many furious viewers who have been blasting very detailed comments about the bias in your show. I’m not writing this letter to accuse your show of being conducted in an ill-manner; I am writing this letter to let you aware of what the viewers think of your judging methods. Please take this into consideration. If you disregard this letter; take my word for it; you will regret it. By the way, please teach your hostess Divya how to not reveal her personal bias when anchoring. Honestly, it is truly irritating.
Wednesday’s was decent except a few… I thought that the songs for this week are from MGR-SD paired movies. But on Wed’day, some songs are from Sivaji-SD & MGR with Others movies also. Worth it… Sai Charan sang SPB’s Aval oru navarasa naadagam from U.SU.Vaa. He tried to control his voice to suit SPB’s elastic vocal. But it was not his cup-of-tea. As usual, he went for over-dose in quite a few places. And as usual Sodhappal. Advices from Smt.Vani Jayaram and Judges are still in the air!! Malavika’s song was Yaarukku maappiLLai yaarO. I was immediately upset her pronunciation of Maapillai (it should be LLai). She cut-short the beautiful humming before charanams to ease her. Aatta thooki mattula pOttu, Maatta thookki aattula pOttu, she spoiled the lyrics. Lines from 1st charaNam was repeated in 2nd also, that too with incorrect words. I recollect that Arvind’s elimination was mainly due to “forgetting lyrics”. What is going to be the price for this girl’s blunder? It was frustrating that this major goof-up was not highlighted by both the Judges!! Here, we need to give a standing ovation for the Abroad-Contestants. How they manage to do justice to memorize the lyrics without a single mistake (so far). That too, with good pronunciation. I think the judges should relax the rule of “No-refer to Lyrics”, for our Domestic Contestants. Hari Hara Sudhan’s was from Padagotti. Waving his hands like a MD creates an impact in his presentation…No Doubt. But he has to exert on THE REAL SINGING too. Post-song show was totally unwarranted with cheap-jokes. Thalai vidhi to watch these things also. Pooja’s Ennai Marandhadhen is one of the most difficult songs which need great breath-control. She did justice with her sincerity in learning. Sai Eesan…17 years old?? Heart throb of the current lot… Superb connecting with Audience, Co-contestants, Orchestra, Judges etc. Many positive attributes, he has. Clarity in Words is excellent. Great performance. Susheelamma too joined the jubilation at the end with the entire crew. Splendid indeed. (Why this Paiyan romba neLiyaraan?) Norway Girl (Naam kya??) took off very well “Aalaya maNiyin Osaiyai”. Good voice with good command over Thamizh. Later, may be due to lack-of –practice, she could not sustain / control her breathe. So, so.. PS went for Pooja as her Favorite. Kuzhandai Sai also joined the SAFE team. Wait for the final day of this week!!

We had great regard for Vijay TV till the final result was delivered on Airtel super singer. After watching the Show for more than a year, it was really disgusting the real talents have not been identified. Rather than Talent, Voting has dominated the result. By encouraging the public to cast more votes , the talent has become secondary and known faces in the city have dominated the show. It is like Vijay TV and Airtel have made good money out of public voting which is a symbol of business motive only. Pooja who was consistently awarded for best performance and declared the first finalist, has been declared the 3rd runner up which is really upsetting some of the viewers. As she is from Hyderabad, the local votes would not have been accounted for her. Rather than talent, the result is based on Bias and Sympathy wave. Instead of public voting, it would be ideal to judge the talents by renowned jury comprising of veteran singers /music directors for the final Title.
Disadvantage of Public voting is – a) In General, some People do not know the depth of singing.
b)Many people vote for known faces.
c) Those who spend more on publicity get more votes.
d) Sponsors make more money by encouraging the voting system.
e) Good talents are discouraged to participate in such shows.
Sai Charan did a great great amazingly awesomely fantaztic job ! I realy apreciate how the boy worked so hard to win this title . Hats off to you . EVEN WITH SO MUCH BIAS …..He has come forward and proved himself to the world . Sujatha is the most biased judge ever in this show ….never appreciated any talent other than “pooja pooja pooja,my darling ”
