On his part, Aamir Khan who is said to be following the script and the progress of 7am Arivu with keen interest, is willing to star in the Hindi version of the film. A.R Murugadoss Tamil film for Bollywood?
Director A.R Murugadoss, synonymous with the 2008 blockbuster Ghajini, featuring Aamir Khan and Asin, hadn’t planned to move down south after his Bollywood debut. However, three years on, he has directed and co-produced a Tamil movie, Engaeyum Eppothum, with Fox Star Studios. The film that released last Friday, has been applauded by the audience down south and is likely to be made in Hindi.
Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios, asserts, “It has become a trend to remake hit south Indian films in Hindi. And I don’t see anything wrong with that because a lot of Hindi-speaking cinegoers don’t understand or have access to these lovely films. A couple of them have beautiful narratives that transcend the barriers of language and actors. So if Engaeyum Eppothum becomes a huge hit, then we could look to remake it in Hindi.” The film in question is a romantic movie toplining Jai, Anjali, Ananya and Sharvanand in pivotal roles.
When asked if Murugadoss would also direct the Hindi remake, Singh, without commenting directly on the subject, says, “We have been on the lookout for interesting projects. Murugadoss has an impeccable track record, and has demonstrated great understanding of Tamil and Hindi audiences. We are committed to building relationships with the best in Indian cinema and are delighted to have him as part of our close-knit family.”
A.R Murugadoss started his career a decade ago with a Tamil film called Dheena. He also directed two Telugu films, Tagore & Stalin, before venturing into Bollywood with his 2005 Tamil blockbuster Ghajini that starred Surya, Asin & Nayantara. After the aforementioned movie, the director has another Tamil movie lined up called 7am Arivu with Suriya and Shruti Hassan.
