UTV Motion Pictures, one of the country’s leading production houses, has formallyannounced the signing of a 3- film deal with popular director Lingusamy. The deal is expected to have fetched a ‘fortune’ to Lingusamy, who has directed successful hit films such as ‘Aanandam’, ‘Run’, ‘Sandakozhi’, ‘Bheema’ and ‘Paiyaa’. The initiative is said to be UTV’s endeavour to enter Tamil films in a big way.

UTV will co-produce and market the three films viz., ‘Vettai’, ‘Vazhakku Enn 18/9’ and ‘Kumki’ along with Tirupathy Brothers Film Media owned by Lingusamy himself. ‘Vettai’, touted as an action packed entertainer, is likely to release in November and is directed by Lingusamy. The film has a huge star cast in Aarya, Madhavan, Sameera Reddy, Ashutosh Rana and Amala Paul. Yuvan Shankar Raja, whose titillating numbers in last year’s ‘Paiyaah’ made the audience dance in the halls, composes the music of ‘Vettai’.
‘Vazhukku Enn 18/9’ is written and directed by Balaji Sakthivel of ‘Kaadhal’ and ‘Samurai’ fame. The film will have newcomers playing the lead roles and is likely to hit the screens in the second half of next year. Balaji is introducing a new music director Prasanna with this film whose cameraman would be Vijay Milton. The third film ‘Kumki’ would be directed by Prabhu Solomon, who stunned many with his last year’s blockbuster ‘Mynaa’.
‘Kumki’, incidentally, marks the debut as hero of Vikram Prabhu, son of popular actor Prabhu and grandson of the legendary Sivaji Ganesan. UTV’s ‘Deiva thirumagal’ is releasing this Friday. With ‘Deiva thirumagal’ and the above-said three films along with
Cheran-Prasanna starrer Muran, UTV is aiming to capture the Tamil audience’s hearts in a big way.
