Hansraj Saxena, Chief Operating Officer of Sun Pictures, was arrested by the City police at the airport on Sunday in connection with a complaint of Rs 1.25 cr cheating and life threat complaint lodged by a Salem-based distributor.

Police said Saxena was held after he arrived by a flight from Hyderabad following a complaint by TS Selvaraj, owner of Kandan Films in Salem.

Police sources said Selvaraj had lodged a complaint on July 1 with the City Police Commissioner alleging that Sun Pictures had signed a deal to sell the distribution rights for Salem area for the film ‘Theeratha Vilayatu Pillai’, starring actor Vishal.

They had signed a deal for Rs 1.25 crore and Sun Pictures had taken the money. But Saxena had distributed the film directly to theatre owners after taking money from them instead of selling the rights to Selvaraj.

Popular Film producer arrested for cheating!!!

Notable Telugu film producer Kalyan, who accused in two cheating cases currently being investigated by the CID, was arrested from his residence in T Nagar, Chennai, on June 29.

After procuring Prisoner Transit (PT) warrant from a local court in Chennai, CID sleuths brought the producer to the city in the wee hours of Friday.

Kalyan was brought to the city and remanded in judicial custody by a local court on Friday.

Kalyan’s links with Bhanu Kiran, an accused in the Suri murder case changed his fate. He allegedly began to encroach on lands of film-makers. Suri came to know about it and confronted Bhanu and Kalyan, warning them not to meddle with film-makers’ properties. “He rotated 6 crore given to farmers by producers in Nanakramguda to construct a residential colony,” a producer told.

He used film trade bodies like the Producers Council and Film Chamber to further his cause. “He forced the general body of the Film Chamber to replace a key post with his close friend.” It is learnt that the cops were hot on his trail for the last 10 days – there was some pressure since the producer allegedly encroached lands of ex-servicemen in Gachibowli and Wakf Board land in Nellore and a couple of warrants were pending against him.

“He threatened financiers who demanded their money back, but it has boomeranged,” says an industry source.
