Om Obama is a satire on Tamil politics. It is an unconventional film that has various sub-plots including romance, grassroots of politics, panchayat elections and others.
According to the story, Kedarapalayam, a remote Tamil village that is looking forward to host Obama. The story unravels before a bemused American Journalist who arrives in the village to document Kedarapalayam’s obsession with the American President Barack Obama.
Two rival politicians in Kedarapalayam make improbable promises. Vying in making such promises, one of the candidates mentions Obama’s support for them in the coming elections. Obama is expected to visit Kedarapalayam to campaign for elections and also take part in the temple festival.
The news about Obama’s arrival spreads like fire and the entire village awaits the arrival of Barack Obama. Hearing this, the American journalist and her crew are pole axed by the ‘breaking news’. The villagers hold high hopes that Obama would help in the economic transformation of the village. Every sub-plot in the film has an issue and the only solution to every issue is Obama’s arrival.
