It was the day, which would be green in the memories of the people of Coimbatore for a long time, as the city wore festive look over the wedding of their home town boy Karthi. It was the traditional marriage, which was attended by more than 8,000 people.
Karthi tied the knot with Ranjani, an English literature graduate, yesterday around 6.30 am at CODISSIA trade fair complex, Coimbatore. The couple, who married according to the traditional Hindu custom, looked like a million bucks in their wedding attire. Karthi was seen in a white silk dhoti and his bride wore a orangish-yellow saree.
Star couple Surya and Jyothika remained bundles of energy throughout the event, personally welcoming the guests and proud parents Sivakumar and Lakshmi took in charge of the ritual proceedings.
K.S Ravikumar, Nagma, Prabhu, Bala, Linguswamy, Nanda, Karthik, Rajesh, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Suseendran and other noted celebrities graced the occasion. More film personalities are expected to attend the wedding reception, which is held on July 7 in Chennai.

Coming from a family that believes in tradition, Karthi couldn’t have asked for a better marriage, for his wedding with Ranjini in Coimbatore on Sunday was a traditional affair which was filled with Tamil rituals.
It was Coimbatore’s first star wedding in a long time, and it lived up to all the hype – what with a grandly-decorated hall and stage, thousands of people thronging the venue, a huge posse of security men and the presence of stars, old and new.

Ranjini’s family, which is mainly into agriculture was there to ensure all went off well. Sivakumar and his wife took care of all the guests and were even seen seeing them off to their cars. Suriya played the perfect elder brother, while Jyothika was the cynosure of all eyes.
