Actress Vijayalakshmi created a flutter the other day by visiting the city police commissioner’s office and filing a complaint against actor-director Seeman accusing the latter of ‘cheating’ her by falling in love with her on the premise of marriage and then backtracking.
Before the complaint could be enquired into by the police, reports started surfacing in the press that it (the complaint) was nothing but a ‘strategy’ adapted by the Congress party in the State as it felt that Seeman remains a ‘headache and a stumbling block’ to the party’s development in the State. The complaint was, therefore, an attempt to arrest Seeman’s future endeavours, it is reported.
Readers might recall that Vijayalakshmi debuted as Suriya’s heroine in the film ‘Friends’ almost a decade back. She did a handful of Tamil films later but nothing clicked in her favour. She also starred in minor roles in a couple of films directed by Seeman namely ‘Thambi’ and ‘Vaazhthugal’. In the meantime, Vijayalakshmi was spotted in many tele-serials besides hosting some game shows for the television.
Her latest appearance on big-screen was as actor Aarya’s sister-in-law in last year’s hit film ‘Baas Engira Baskaran’. Seeman’s advocate Chandrasekaran said that he didn’t receive any information from the police about the ‘reported’ complaint lodged by the actress. He said that in his knowledge, the actress had visited Seeman’s office-cum-residence only once in the past to seek Seeman’s help in the divorce case of her sister.
The advocate also revealed that Seeman is soon to tie the nuptial knot with a Sri Lankan Tamil woman, who had been affected by the genocide against the Tamils by the Lankan army a couple of years back. The marriage has the consent of Seeman’s parents. “If the complaint was actually lodged, we would face it legally. We also plan to slap a defamation case on actress Vijayalakshmi seeking Rs.5 crores as damages,” informed Chandrasekaran.
Last heard, the Valasaravakkam police are investigating Vijayalakshmi’s complaint against Seeman.
