Producer-distributor Udhayanidhi Stalin earnestly hopes his ‘Oru Kal Oru Kannadi’ (OkOk) manages to do well at the box-office as and when it is released in the second half of this year. The suave entrepreneur insists he’s not a ‘high-profile’ person as is being made out by the media. Son of former deputy chief minister Stalin, Udhayanidhi Stalin would soon be making his debut as hero with ‘OKOK’.
Udhaya pins high hopes on the film, which would be the third film as director for Rajesh, who has had back-to-back hits in ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’ and ‘Boss Engira Bhaskaran’. With Hansika Motwani as his heroine and music director Harris Jeyaraj to boost the box-office prospects of the film, Udhaya believes he has a winner on his hands in ‘OkOk’. Yet, he doesn’t appear to be relaxing.
He almost blushes when he reveals that the film being a mass entertainer, it features a quintessential ‘item’ number for which he has put in a kuthu dance. “Hopefully, I have done a decent enough job in dancing; it’s for the movie-goers to pass on the final verdict,” says Udhaya who concedes frankly that he found it ‘extremely difficult’ to remain casual while romancing the beautiful Hansika in the song sequences!
He looks unperturbed by the debacle of his father’s party in the April 13 elections and insists that it (the change of power from DMK to AIADMK) hardly mattered to him as he had ‘never ever’ misused or abused power. “While distributing or producing films, I have always traded using my common sense and as per the trends prevalent in the industry; as such, no government can guarantee the success or failure of a film,” adds Udhaya.
Informing that he’d continue his sojourn as a producer of ‘quality films’ despite turning an actor, Udhaya lets a secret out of the bag as he reveals that the audio-launch of his upcoming production ‘7am Arivu’ would be held abroad.
