The MGR(Minimum Guarantee Returns) director K.S Ravikumar joining Ajith for this film, the Tamil audience had the different title in diffused theme. With Meena, Kiran, Ramesh Kanna in the lead roles, the film was a revenge on the family suppression. With different dual roles Ajith worked hard to earn the commercial hit of this film, whereby the box office accrued more than 30 crores. This film too bagged the Best actor Filmfare award for Ajith and prompted the Telugu actor-director Dr. Rajasekar to remake it with the same title.
