Billa
The imminent success of Varalaru encouraged Ajith to cleanse the dull image spread over him and took the perseverance by heart to enter the big budget Billa. The film was the remake of the Hindi Don which shook the Bollywood after Sholay. The earlier Tamil version was done by Superstar with the same title in the 80s. Vishnuvardhan extracted the maximum efficiency from Thala with the assistance from Nayantara, Prabu, Namitha, A.R Rahman. The movie had the magnificent music from Yuvan Shankar Raja. The story fitted the contemporary audience’s expectations and the fans particularly were happy with the film and Ajith’s performance. The film won an acclaim for screening in Cannes Film Festival with Ajith and Vishnuvardhan attending the festival held in France. From the day one, Billa was cheered by the audience from all the centers, A, B and C. The entire project was shot at a budget of Rs15 crore and the producers and the outright purchasers earned a lot as the movie went on to earn more than Rs80 crores all over the world.
Ajith has portrayed a variety of roles in his career. He has mastered the skill of being a baddie in Vaali and Asoka; which reminds us the early days of our Superstar. The recent debacle of Asal from Saran has disappointed the fans as much as Ajith. The mega budget movie from Sivaji productions failed to impress the audience for its complicated treatment of the same old theme. Everyone expects a lot from the ongoing Mankatha and the subsequent Billa 2. No matter what happens to the movie. Our Thala and his movie will be celebrated as a festival by his fans. That is why Ajith is called the “Prince of Box Office” and “The King Maker”.

But recently when director Venkat prabhu was having a very casual chat with director Vishnu he has confirmed that the title of this film is ready and will be revealed at the apt time. Vishnu vardhan is in awe of the music by yuvan for this film. The combo of Ajith, Vishnu and Yuvan joining after Billa has certainly increased the expectations and the combo is working hard to set a new trend again.
