Actress Kavya Madhavan and Kuwait-based software engineer Nishal Chandra are divorced. Ernakulam family court judge Joseph Thekke Kuruvinal dissolved their two-year-old marriage on Monday.
They had officially decided to separate in October last year and filed a joint divorce petition at the court. The settlement came after several rounds of talks. It was agreed that the actress will withdraw her petition against Chandra and his family under the Domestic Violence Act.
Kavya got married to Nishal, a software engineer working in Kuwait in December 2008. She left for Kuwait in February 2009, but returned home in June the same year and did not go back thereafter.
The allegations, leveled against the ex-husband’s family included maltreatment, abuse and discrimination. The allegations that were filed against the groom’s family were later withdrawn.
