Actor Dhanush proved his crooning prowess by singing the hit song ‘Ummela Aasaidhaan…’ in the film Aayirathil Oruvan in G.V Prakash Kumar’s music. The song, which also had Andrea Jermaiah’s voice too, was one of the features of the extravagant film attempted by Selvaraghavan, Dhanush’s elder brother. Now, the actor has revealed another facet of his personality.

Fresh from winning the national award for ‘best actor’ for his mind-blowing performance in Vetrimaran’s ‘Aadukalam’, Dhanush plays the lead in Selvaa’s upcoming film ‘Irandaam Ulagam’. Of the six songs in the film, Dhanush has reportedly penned a couple of songs while Selvaa has written the other two songs. Dhanush has also sung a song in the film, it is reported.
By doing so, Dhanush joins the elite list of actors which has Kamal Hassan and Simbu who have penned lyrics in films besides singing them. Incidentally, G.V Prakash Kumar has scored the music of ‘Irandaam…’ too. Talking about the songs, GVP says that Dhanush has penned a folk song and a romantic song and adds that both of them have come out ‘really’ well.
GVP says that not many people, including those close to Dhanush, are aware that the actor is actually a good writer too. “Selva has only utilized Dhanush’s writing in the form of lyrics. Dhanush, Selvaa and I share a warm, cordial relationship and as such, the composing and recording of all the songs in the film went off well as we had a blast,” concludes GVP, niece of music wizard A.R Rahman.

Dhanush turns lyricist for ‘Irandaam Ulagam’
The Tamil film industry knows that Selvaragavan is a master crafter of a movie and Dhanush is an excellent artist. But to make some news the brothers have set the ball roll in the field of lyrics.
Their current project, Irandam Ulagam is on full swing and it is almost sure that the songs numbering about six in this film are from the pens of the brothers.
Moreover, Dhanush has given voice to four songs for which GV Prakash is in charge of music and the film has the cast of Dhanush, Richa. After Vikram, now it’s Dhanush’s turn to raise his voice for music.
