Actor Vijay’s latest film ‘Kavalan’ has been exclusively chosen to be screened at the upcoming Shanghai Film Festival in China. The film is directed by Siddique, who made the Vijay-Surya starrer ‘Friends’ exactly a decade ago. The film also marks the third (successful) time that actress Asin was paired with Vijay after their earlier films in ‘Sivakasi’ & ‘Pokkiri’.

The film, a remake of the Malayalam hit ‘Bodyguard’ (directed by Siddique himself), was well received by the members of the public as well as by Vijay’s fans who had been itching to have a hit film of their favourite star for the past few years. The film has now been selected to be screened at the Panorama Section of the 14th International Film Festival to be held in Shanghai from 11-19 June.
The Festival would attract as many as 2,500 delegates from 80 countries around the globe. In this backdrop, it is significant to note that ‘Kavalan’ happens to be the lone entry from South India to be selected to take part in the Festival, informs Vijay’s PRO Selvakumar. The jury to select the film comprised the likes of Barry Lavinson, the director of the Oscar-winning film ‘Rain-man’.
Rex, the coordinator of the Festival who is entrusted with the job of liaising with the guests and the invitees, has informed that Vijay has been invited to take part in the above-said Festival as a ‘special invitee’.
A Vijay film for a Festival! Keep it up, Vijay!
