Having considered many actresses for the role, K.V Anand and producers have finalized Kajal Agarwal for the female lead role. Earlier it was Tamanna, who first sizzled with Surya and fetched the honors of ‘Best Onscreen Chemistry’ while it was the same with Karthi in ‘Paiya‘.

Now with Karthi & Kajal Agarwal winning all the laurels, it’s time for the beautiful missy to pair with Surya.

Kajal Agarwal – Surya combo for ‘Maatraan’
After pairing up opposite Karthi in the successful ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’, actress Kajal Agarwal would now be pairing up opposite his elder brother and actor Suriya in the film ‘Maatraan’. The film is being directed by K.V. Anand, who has delivered a summer hit with his ‘Ko’. Incidentally, ‘Maatraan’ would be the second film in Suriya-Anand combo as they had earlier worked together in the super-hit film ‘Ayan’.

In the aftermath of the release of ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’ last year, Kajal was even rumoured to be having an ‘affair’ with the soon-to-be married Karthi, which later turned out to be a false alarm. With the Karthi-starrer, Kajal was attempting a comeback of sorts with the colossal success of the Telugu film ‘Magadheera’ behind her.

Suriya is presently shooting for the final schedule (hopefully!) of the film ‘7am Arivu’ directed by A.R. Murugadoss. Suriya owes a lot to the diminutive Murugadoss as it was the success of the latter’s directorial venture ‘Ghajini’ that catapulted Suriya to the status of a ‘big star’ down South. Suriya, though, hasn’t looked back ever since.

After completing Murugadoss’ film, Suriya would start shooting for ‘Maatraan’, it is learnt. The director reportedly considered the likes of Tamanna, Amala Paul and Anushka before zeroing in on Kajal as Surya’s heroine in the film. Tamannaah and Anushka had done a film each with Suriya (‘Ayan’ and ‘Singam’ respectively) and were therefore overlooked while Amala didn’t’ get the nod as she lacked a ‘strong’ face.

Kajal, who would be starring in a Tamil film almost after an year or so, is looking forward to cementing her place as one of the frontline heroines in Kollywood!
