Vijay TV a pioneer in introducing new concepts in television had launched an innovative show titled ‘Surf Excel - Little Big Film Makers’ during Feb 2011. Vijay TV gave an opportunity for the kids to tell a story by conducting a road show wherein hundreds of school children participated. Kids aged between 8 to 14 years had participated by writing a story that highlighted the concept “Dirt is good”. This story writing competition was held in Madurai, Coimbatore and Chennai. Exciting and interesting stories were identified and shortlisted by the show judges, leading director A.R Murugadoss and actor Suhasini Maniratnam. The gratification for these enthusiastic children was seeing their story come to life.

Vijay TV has been airing this ‘Surf Excel – Little Big Film Makers’ every Sunday at 10 am. Kids with unique stories having enormous talent on story telling had been chosen by the judges. Each of the chosen stories were then made into short films; with the kid as the director under the able guidance of well established ad film makers like Roshini, Scorates, Balaji, Sendhil who helped them in the production of their films.

Following is a short note about the 8 chosen stories and the kids who wrote them.

Happy Birthday Patti” by Abhinaya : 12 yr old Abhinaya studies in SBOA Matriculation School. Her story “Happy Birthday Patti” is a short and sweet film about how a little girl whips up a surprise for her dear grandmother on her birthday.

“Kitchen Galatta” by Evangeline : A fun film about a father and son who decide to surprise the mother with a lunch prepared by them in the kitchen. Titled “Kitchen Galatta” the story was written by Evangeline, 10 yrs old who studies in Danish Matriculation Higher Secondary school.

“Anbulla Amma” by Vasundhara : An emotional tale of a girl and her prized artwork that she presents to her parents before leaving for boarding school. Vasundhara 9 yrs, PSBB School, Chennai.

“My new friend” by Rahul : A cute story of how a new boy in the class is bullied in the class and his new classmate comes to his rescue and they become friends written by 10 yr old Rahul studying in Ebenezer Marcus Matriculation Higher Secondary school.

“Thaatha’s Treasure” by Raja : A story of magic and hidden treasure, little Tejas is out to seek a hidden treasure for his grandmom. The story writer Raja studies in Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidhyashram and is 10 yrs old.

“Chutti Ponnu” by Ziya : This is a witty story of little girl Riya, who saves her friend the waiter from an angry customer at her birthday party. The youngest in the lot Ziya is 8 yrs old and studies in Good Shepherd Convent has penned the story.

“Chicken Champion” by Arun Balaji : 11yr old Arun Balaji studies in DAV Boys Senior Secondary School has written the chicken story as two boys become friends over a chicken coop.

“Muniyamma” by Abhay : A touching tale of a boy who goes out of his way to help a distressed woman on the street written by Abhay 11 yrs old is currently studying Periyar Matriculation Higher Secondary School.

Now, the time has come for the grand finale as these movies were screened to the audience at Taj Connemera on April 11, 2011 with celebrities from the entertainment industry Director A.R Murugadoss and actor Suhasini Manirathnam. The kids were also being presented with special awards as part of the festivities. To add to the fun and frolic, special performances be the popular contestants of Junior Super Stars i.e. Lakshmi, Alsabeth, Priyanka, Balasarangan, Jayanth & Shanmugapriya and dance performance by Junior Jodis Rinson & Gabriella.

This special event would air on April 24th, 2011 at 10 am only on Vijay TV.

    The Grand Finale was held last evening at Taj Connemara and it turned to be a heavy competition that went well with big entertainment.
