Simbu is all set to start the shoot of his much awaited project Vettai Mannan from today April 6 in Chennai.
Vettai Mannan is a trilingual film which will be made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. This action and comedy film is written and directed by debutant Nelson. Simbu’s longtime friend Jai will play an important role the film. The hunt for the female lead is going on from a long time and the final negotiations with a top Bollywood actress is in process. Director Nelson will be canning few initial scenes between STR and Jai today. Santhanam takes the responsibility of proving the required comedy element for the film.
The combo of Yuvan Shankar Raja and Simbu continues for this film too after many musical hits. Vettai Mannan is produced by SS Chakravarthy under the banner of Nic Arts.

Simbu is gearing up for the release of his next biggie ‘Vaanam’, which is now releasing almost an year after the release of his last superhit film ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya’. Sources close to the actor say that he has signed up to play the lead role of a cop in his upcoming film, a remake of the Bollywood hit ‘Dabbang’ which starred Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha.
The Tamil remake version of ‘Dabbang’ is likely to be directed by Dharani of ‘Ghilli’, ‘Dil’ and ‘Dhool’ fame. The bearded director, whose last film ‘Kuruvi’ failed to hit the bull’s eye at the box-office, was awaiting an offer to make amends and has got a ‘perfect’ commercial through the remake version. Simbu’s efforts to secure Bollywood’s Sonam Kapoor as heroine for the Tamil version haven’t succeeded.
Meanwhile, Simbu has reportedly told that he had ‘no time’ to hunt a suitable groom for his sister and has asked his parents to do the ‘search’ on their own. It is also reported that Vijaya TR has rejected many ‘grooms’ for Simbu’s sister Ilakkiya, an MBA graduate, saying that the horoscopes didn’t match. Simbu’s said to be upset that in the name of horoscope, they were missing out on some good grooms.
Unconfirmed reports also say that Ilakkiya is said to be in love and that she’s unable to reveal the same to her parents. Whether Simbu would step in to solve the tangle or not would be known in the coming days!
