Actress Anjali had a dream debut in Kollywood with ‘Katradhu Tamizh’ opposite Jiiva a few years back. The film was a critic’s delight though it didn’t court success at the box-office. Ajnali had a heavy character which required her to emote well. After that, Anjali switched into commercial mode by doing ‘masala’ films before last year’s ‘Angaadi Theru’ changed her life dramatically.
One of Anjali’s plus points is reportedly her ‘flexibility’ with her fee as she doesn’t demand a hefty sum from her producers. Presently with a handful of projects on hand, Ajnali was also in the reckoning to play actor-director Sasikumar’s lead in the film ‘Poraali’ to be directed by Samuthirakkani, whose bonding with Sasikumar is as famous as Chennai’s mosquito menace.
Reports say that Anjali has now been shown the ‘exit’ door from ‘Poraali’, the shooting of which was to commence in a fortnight’s time. Samuthirakkani’s reasoning is that Anjali has become a ‘glamourous’ heroine and that the role he had in mind for her in ‘Poraali’ was a deglamourized one and needed to be played by a heroine sans any image.
Samuthirakkani’s attitude has obviously upset Anjali, who hasn’t reportedly gone public with her views about her ‘unceremonious’ exit from ‘Poraali’.
