Pretty Shriya Saran has nobody to blame but her ill-luck. The slim and svelte Punjabi girl had a couple of releases last year in ‘Kutti’ and ‘Chikku bhukku’. Despite decent storylines and good performances by the lead actors, both the films failed to click in a big way at the box-office, leaving Shriya still searching for her major success after ‘Sivaji: The Boss’ opposite Rajni more than three years back.

Shriya hopes to wipe off a bitter 2010 with renewed Vigour in the year 2011. She has ‘Rowthiram’, her first film opposite Jiiva, getting ready for its theatrical release. She also hopes to complete the shooting of her Malayalam film ‘Casanova’, opposite megastar Mohanlal, soon as it has been quite a long time since the film was launched.
She considers herself lucky to have acted opposite the two ‘giants’ of Mollywood as she has already done ‘Pokkiri Raja’ opposite Mammootty some time back. Despite the busy shooting schedule, she does make it a point to indulge in charity work, in particular for the cause of education and to help the visually challenged persons.
Speaking from the heart, Shriya notes with regret that though there are many fora to teach the visually challenged, not many leading business houses come forward to employ them and provide them jobs. “The social stigma still continues,” she says and the pain in her voice is tangible.
Shriya says she’ll also ensure that the visually challenged therapists she has employed in her spa are not ‘exploited’ in any manner by the corrupt-minded people visiting the place. She sure deserves loads of kudos for thinking about those and employing them in her spa!
