‘Thai Pongal’ is a harvest festival event celebrated by Tamilians across the world. Traditionally celebrated at the time of harvest, Pongal is a festival of prosperity associated with harvest by thanking the Sun God, rain and the farm animals that have helped in the harvest. Celebrating this festive occasion, Vijay has lined-up some exciting shows on January 15 (day of Pongal), January 16 (Maatu Pongal) and January 17, 2011.

The day begins with ‘Villu Paatu’ at 6.30 am and ‘Anmega Pattimandram’ at 7:00 am. Following this at 8.30 am; take a sneak peek into the upcoming film ‘Thoonganagaram’. At 9am on a special episode of UniverCell Koffee with Anu;, actors Nagarjuna & Prakash Raj share fond memories on work, family and friends with the chatty Anu Hassan.
At 10 am ‘Villa to Village’ a popular concept which proved to be a super hit is back again this festive season too. Five celebrity couples from the small screen are made to live the hard way as they are taken to remote village and put through various daunting tasks.
At 11 am is ‘Karthiyudan Oru Siruthai Pongal’ a first of its kind show with actor Karthi. Viewers get to see the other fun and humorous side of the actor; celebrating Pongal with young fans and participating in a Q & A session. Along with him the dazzling star of tinsel town Tamannah and comedy actor Santhanam interact with the star.
At 1 pm is the most popular ‘Neeya Naana’ Pongal special; on which celebrities debate on “Beauty – What is its definition in Today’s cinema?” “Why aren’t there any dream girls?” Celebrity guests like actors Rekha, Kuyili and many others debate on this filmy topic. The show is moderated by Gopinath.
At 3 pm, Vijay TV premiers the latest super hit Tamil film ‘Chikku Bukku’ written and Directed by Manikandan, starring Arya, Shriya Saran, debutante Preetika in the lead roles with Santhanam in the comedy role.
At 6 pm ‘Ilaignargalin Ilaignan’ would be aired. At 7 pm on ‘SVS Sun Oil Adhu Idhu Yethu’, celebrity guests Director Samuthrakani, cinematographer Kadhir, choreographer Dinesh walk into the show to participate in this fun filled game show anchored by Sivakarthikeyan. Also a special guest Director Sasikumar joins them on this special occasion.
At 8 pm on ‘Amman Try Oru Varthai Oru Latcham’ small screen stars Srividhya & Sridhar team up to play against Meera Krishnan & Krishan. Will any one of the couple rock all the way up the money tree round and walk away with whopping prize money!? Don’t miss to watch this game show that tests one’s vocabulary in Tamil language.
At 9 pm on Poorvika Mobile Junior Super Stars the contestants compete individually in ‘one on one’ round to prove their singing skill. As for the Pongal special 55 kids from Don Bosco Anbuillam participate on the show. This festive day special episode will be anchored by RJ – Senthil, Srikanth and specials celebrity guests are popular singer Manicka Vinayagam, Pushpavanam Kuppusamy & Anitha Kuppusamy.
At 10 pm on ‘Kadhal Meter’ a show that makes a reality check of the compatibility quotient of the celebrity couple, features actor Devyani and her husband Director Rajakumaran. Actor Suresh hosts the show.

At 7 am Chennaiyyil Thiruvaiyyaru would be aired. At 11 am ‘Ore Kadal’ starring Mamooty, Meera Jasmine, Ramya Krishnan & Narain will premiere on Vijay TV on the special occasion. The film was a box office hit and a critically acclaimed movie, including winning a National Award for best Music.
At 2 pm a super hit Tamil Film produced by Director Shankar, ‘Eeram’ starring Aadhi, Nanda, Sindhu Menon, Saranya Mohan will be aired.
