Actress Namitha, who was the cynosure of all eyes and the ‘dream girl’ of every Tamil youth not long ago, fell out of favour with producers and directors last year after putting on loads of flab around her waist. The tall actress still bagged the role of a vamp in the Pongal release ‘Ilaignan’, which stars lyricist Paa Vijay in the lead role.
When she hadn’t any Tamil film offers, she found solace in Sandalwood (the world of Kannada films) where she was much in demand. She had shed some kilograms for her role in the Kannada film but regained them in quick time for ‘Ilaignan’. Now that the film is over, she is again on a weight-shedding exercise.
For her fans, she sends out a strong message that they would be in for a surprise in a month or so as she would appear in a ‘slim avatar’. Bollywood’s Ruchita Diwakar, the dietitian who is credited for creating Kareena Kapoor’s ‘size zero’ figure, is said to have instilled the confidence in Namitha’s mind that she too can become ‘slim and svelte’.
The former ‘Miss Surat’ is also into yoga in a big way, it is reported. She says happily, “A few weeks from now on, people would find it hard to recognize me, as I would have lost loads of weight and flab around my waist. Even now, people are asking me how did I trim down; the process is only mid-way through and I can’t imagine the adulations I might be in to receive once the whole process is completed,” gushes Namitha.
