The audio launch of the film ‘Ilaignan’, whose dialogues have been penned by Kalaignar, was held in the city on Sunday. The film marks the second attempt by lyricist Paa Vijay in turning hero after his unsuccessful and forgettable attempt through last year’s dud ‘Gnabagangal’. The function’s highlight was without doubt the speech of superstar Rajnikanth.
Speaking at the audio-launch, Rajni said that he received a call from Kalaignar last week who asked him if he had any engagement on the 5th of November. “Only when I said I was free, Kalaignar told me that he wanted me to attend the audio-launch of the film ‘Ilaignan’ and asked me if I would come over. I immediately told him I’d be present at the function….here I am.”
“For his stature, Kalaignar could have straightaway asked me to come to the function instead of enquiring about my commitments….That’s what one would term as a matured approach….I feel this is what makes him shine in the public life for more than 60 years….
“Only those with a cultured approach can travel in a straight or main (moral) road in life; otherwise, one can’t even hope to walk on the plat form. He would only have the bye-pass road to make do with….Being morally right is that muc important in life.
“Suresh Krissna, the director of the film, had showed a very different dimension of me in the super-hit film ‘Annamalai’. He also made movies like ‘Baadshah’ and ‘Veera’ with me in the lead…I’m sure he would have done an equally good job in this film too,” said Rajnikanth amid rapturous applause.
