Just when everyone thought Kamal Haasan’s dream project ‘Maruthanayagam’ (launched with much fanfare more than 10 years ago) is off for good, news emanating from Kollywood say that producer Ascar Ravichandran is planning to revive the project.

Ravichandran had earlier produced Kamal Haasan’s magnum opus ‘Dasavathaaram’ more than three years ago. During the release of the film, he reportedly developed some ‘differences’ with Kamal due to which the star boycotted many events leading up to the release of the film.
Now that the two are on a friendly wicket once again, the revival of Kamal’s started-but-halted list of films ‘Marmayogi’, ‘Marudhanayagam’ & ‘Thalaivan Irukkiran’ reportedly came up during the deep discussions the duo had in recent times. Ravichandran is said to have assured Kamal that he would take it upon himself the reviving and producing of one of these three films.
Ravichandran & Kamal are both seriously considering reviving the film ‘Maruthanayagam’ at a budget of Rs.200 crores, apparently as an answer to superstar Rajni’s ‘Enthiran: The Robot’, which was produced at a budget of over Rs.180 crores.
