He is one of the busiest persons in Indian cinema. He is a dancing legend, an actor, director, and a top choreographer.
Everyone knows that the reticent Prabhu Deva is also a man in love but has stayed away from making any sound bytes, interviews or even clarified media reports.
Throughout his career, he has never discussed or spoke about his personal life even when his “affair” with top actress Nayanthara was doing the rounds.
For the past one year, ever since Nayan acted in Villu a film that Prabhu directed, much has been written about their relationship and media has been working overtime especially after Nayan tattooed Prabhu’s name on her wrist. But either Prabhu or Nayan did not comment on their relationship nor deny it.
In this first ever exclusive interview, from Malshej Ghat near Mumbai where he is shooting for Urumi, Prabhu Deva opens up:
How is the shooting for Urumi progressing?
The shooting is going on briskly and we all are enjoying it. I will be completing this schedule and will be off for the song shoot of the Jayam Ravi-Hansika film that I am directing. The title will be changed from Ich and I will be announcing it soon.
The media has been writing in detail about your affair with Nayanthara. But you have so far refused to talk about it or acknowledge the relationship. Why ?
Throughout my career the media has been writing a lot of things about me, but I have never bothered to react or call a press meet to clarify or issue a denial. As far as Nayanthara is concerned she is special. Yes I am in love with Nayanthara and we will be getting married soon. It’s a personal decision and I don’t like to talk about it to the media. Basically I’m not comfortable opening my heart out to the media.
The grapevine has it that Nayan has quit acting to settle down with you. Please comment?
She’s very contrary to the glam image that you see. She’s a home bird, very simple. Any man who is in love would like to spend more time with his woman . I am no different and there is no meaning in both of us being busy and having no time for each other. She had a beautiful innings and I know very well that she is a top actress who is much in demand.
What is that one defining change that Nayan has brought in you?
(Smiles) It’s not one, there are many. She has stood by me in my difficult times and her support was like an oasis in the desert.
Earlier I was a short-tempered person but now my assistants and friends say that I have mellowed down a lot (Smiles). She is a very strong person and has made me like her. She has taught me how to love each other unconditionally and how to carry myself in public. She is a wonderful human being and I find everything about her lovable.

There has been romance between Prabhu Deva and Nayanthara for quite some time. Nayanthara is an unmarried woman whereas Prabhu Deva is married and has two children. There was news frequently in the media about their love affair.

We have decided to marry soon. This is our personal matter. There is no necessity for me to explain about this, neither do I want to speak about it. Nayanthara is a home bird. She loves simplicity.
A lover always wants to spend more time with his lover. This rule applies to me also. Nayanthara has acted in numerous films and achieved a lot. She is a leading actress. Everybody knows this.
There is no point in being busy instead of sharing the love between us. Many are asking the reason for Nayanthara entering my life. There are lots of things. When I was in deep distress she was a great consolation to me. She looked like an oasis for me in the desert. Normally I am short tempered person. But she has changed me a lot.
My assistants itself say that I am not like before. She is brave and bold girl. She changed me like her. She is the one who made me understand that love is unconditional. Nayanthara is an extraordinary person. I love everything in her.”

Udayanidhi is 25th for Nayan
Producer turned actor udayanidhi debuted as a hero with the film Oru Kal oru Kannadi directed by M.Rajesh. The film was a run away hit which also had Santhanam and Hansika in the lead roles. Now Udayanidhi is gearing to act in his 2nd film but he seems to be the silver jubilee hero for Nayanthara who is pairing with him in his 2nd film.
Nayanthara has so far acted with 24 heroes in south indian films and Udayanidhi is her 25th hero. This film will be directed by Sundarapandian fame Prabakaran and the shooting will start rolling from Mid january. Nayanthara is the only heroine who has paired with super stars, top heroes, and also upcoming heroes.
