All the roads for the big wigs in film, politics and industrialists led to Rani Meiyyamai Hall where Soundarya Rajnikanth who is the youngest daughter of Rajnikanth got married to the Stanford graduate Aswin today morning. The marriage was held in the traditional Brahmin style.
Soundarya was glowing with a red nine yard saree. Home Minister P Chidambaram attended the marriage and blessed the couple. Almost all the political leaders and industrialists attended the marriage. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sridevi, Boney Kapoor and a host of other high profile guests attended the wedding. Jayalalitha did not attend the marriage since she was away from city.

Superstar Rajnikanth’s younger daughter Soundarya tied the nuptial knot with her industrialist beau Ashwin. The wedding took place in a grand manner on Friday in the presence of a galaxy of VIPs including the superstar’s friends from within and outside the film industry besides his family members, close relatives and friends and fans.
The rituals preceding the marriage were performed on the evening of Thursday at the sprawling Rani Meyyammai Hall at Chennai’s Egmore locality. For the evening, Soundarya was dressed in a green-coloured saree and Ashwan was spotted clad in a sandal-coloured sherwani. The couple was welcomed with the traditional chanting of hymns and beating of drums.
Aishwarya Rai, Abishek Bachchan, Union Ministers Azhagiri, G.K. Vasan and many others took part in the event. Sreedevi, who has done many movies opposite Rajnikanth in both Tamil and Hindi in the eighties and nineties, was present along with her producer husband Boney Kapoor. Veteran actress Vyjayantimala Bali and Telugu superstar Mohanbabu were also present on the occasion.
The wedding took place the next morning as Ashwin tied the nuptial knot on Soundarya, seated on superstar’s lap, around 07:30 p.m. The wedding took place in typical Brahmin style with chanting of hymns and contained all the rituals that go with it. Rajni was spotted sporting an orange-coloured headgear; so did Dhanush, the superstar’s first son-in-law.
The couple paid obeisance to Rajni and Latha and went around the holy fire thrice as directed. The couple also paid obeisance to Union Home Minister Chidambaram, R.M. Veerapan, director Balachander and Tollwood’s veteran director Raghavendra Rao.
Those who attended the wedding included MDMK chief Vaiko, Congress’ Thangkabalu, director Maniratnam, Kamal Haasan, Communist leaders Nallakkannu and Tha Pandian, BJP’s L. Ganesan, DMDK’s Vijaykanth, VCK’s Thirumavalavan, actor Sarath Kumar, actress Meena and former Union Minister Tirunavukkarasu.
