1. Endhan Uyire

Singer: Yash Golcha

Lyricist: Murugan Manthiram

“Endhan Uyire” is a rhythmic solo love song. The tune is energetic and is very youthful. Interludes are the ones that have a score. S S Kumaran as always doesn’t dominate with his instruments in solo numbers. Yash Golcha’s voice is north Indian and it may justify saying present generation wants this type.

2. Eppodhu Un Jannal

Singers: Hariharan, Mahalakshmi Iyer

Lyricist: Victor Doss

This is a duet which sounds very usual. The slow melody brings Hariharan-Mahalakshmi to the fore. But these two singers are versatile and could have been used better. How ever a decent number.

3. Kadithame Kadithame

Singer: S S. Kumaran

Lyricist: Murugan Manthiram

The guitars and violins remind you many old songs. To add to that feeling is the voice of S S Kumaran. The music director tries to do a Illayaraja by choosing a pathos to lend voice. But the high pitch doesn’t come through and sounds bass.

4. Kokha Kozhi

Singers: Chinmayee, Vinitha, Srimathi

Lyricist: Murugan Manthiram

A village folk by the music, lyric and voices. The lyric has heavily borrowed thoughts from “Bllelaka” song in ‘Sivaji’. Even the character sounds the same, a city girl returning the village. But Chinmayee takes it through. As been the recent trend if it is village song the music director brings in some children to do a bit and chorus. A very okay song lifted up by Chinmayee.

5. Singam Varudhu

Singers: Yash Golcha, Prasanna, S S. Kumaran, Rajiv

Lyricist: Victor Doss

Again a village folksy song with very local feel. Seems a thiruvizha song and the parai, urumi, nadaswaram give that feel of the soil. A festive group outburst.

6. Aasai Arakki

Singer: Yash Golcha

Another kind of ‘Endhan Uyire’ and here the boy calls for love. The girl retorts with her point of view. Nice beats makes it simple and likeable. Singer Yash Golcha comes well in this song than the previous songs. This may be the Pick of the pack.

The songs of ‘Virunthali’ are not some thing knew we would have wanted from the music director of ‘Poo’. See, even after four films we tend to call him ‘Poo’ music director. How ever S S Kumaran has definitely come out better that the other recent release ‘Kalavani’. Kokha Kozhi and Aasai Arakki will be on the charts for some time.
