Kutrappirivu review

Production: Green Apple Productions
Direction: Manmohan
Star-casts: Srikanth, Prithviraj, Kamalini Mukherji, Kadhal Thandapani and many others.
Music: Chakri

The stylish teasers and promotional pictures had turned some spotlights on this film. With couple of interesting lead actors – Srikanth and Prithviraj, one could really expect something more from this film. Anticipated as a crime-thriller revolving around police department, ‘Kutrappirivu’ was supposed to hit screens before and has a delayed release today.

Disappointingly, the film falls short off expectations as it carries a wretched plot that in no way goes understandable for any group of audiences.

Kamalini mukherjee Kutrappirivu review

What’s really happening for the complete 2.5hrs seems to be like an amateur drama.

The film revolves around two police officers Ravinder (Srikanth) and Ravikanth (Prithviraj) fighting against odds in the society. But what seems to look like an egoistic clash seemingly has a different reason to different reason to fight against each other. One amongst them is a baddie involved in conniving acts and other one is unable to trace this culprit.

Guessing who could be the culprit and other one a sincere cop? Take a watch over it on the screens.

Director Manmohan takes on with an unusual theme though it’s a threadbare in terms of plot points. But, he could have elongated the suspense quotients till the last moment. Since, the mystery is disentangled much prior to intermission, you’ll completely loose out your interests. The very basic line is completely fallible and there is no way it would hold your attention.

Srikanth has improved a lot from his previous films as he comes up with a distinctive body language and exhibiting mannerisms of a cop. Prithviraj is cool as cucumber as enacting a cop’s role isn’t something new to him. Kamalini Mukherji and other female lead don’t get much priority. Kamalini’s role is more or less the same as her 8mins role in ‘Vetaiyaadu Vilayaadu’.

Background score by Chakri is finely done while cinematography by Bharani is quite displeasing. Usage of day-by-night shot at unwanted sequences could have been reduced. Editing by Sreekar Prasad is okay while the continuities keep missing between most of the scenes.

With an unconvincing idea dropped on paper, Manmohan stumbles down on conveying them over the screens.

What works: Srikanth, Prithviraj.

What doesn’t work: Screenplay, longer duration, unwanted flashbacks, and camera
