Ilaignan which has the story, screenplay and dialogues of Kalaignar Karunanidhi has Pa Vijay in the lead role. Martin who was distributing films in overseas is producing this film under the banner Martin Productions.
Suresh Krishna is directing this film. This is his 50th film. Pa Vijay is doing the lead role in this film. This is the second film that he is doing the hero role. Ramya Nambeesan and Meenakshi are the two heroines of this film.
Kushboo is donning an important role in this film. Nasar, Vadivelu and Suman are also sharing the screen with them. P L Sanjay who was the assistant to cinematographer P C Sriram is handling the camera for this film. Vidhyasagar is composing the music.
S Benjamin is co-producing this film. This film is about an emotional story which happens in a particular period. Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will launch the shooting of the film on 28th of this month at Chennai.
