Vincent Asokan

Vincent Asokan

He’s been the bad man of cinema just like his father, the late Asokan who played a notorious villain par excellence. Now Vincent Asokan is on cloud nine since his latest film Yogi has made a difference in his career. He tells us why..

So how has the response been for Yogi?

It’s brought a tremendous change for me. People have been calling to say how much they hated the character Lyndon Fernando, the father who tries to kill a baby in the film. And that’s a huge compliment for me. The response of people and the public has kept the fire burning in me to do better in my next films. Yogi got me noticed.

Is there a difference in the roles coming to you now?

Yes definitely. People want to give me roles with shades of grey and they are making the scripts around my character and that’s wonderful because I want to explore and do various kinds of roles.

How was it working with Ameer?

He is a perfectionist and would wait to get each shot right. He is inspiring and motivates you. He took time out to guide me about the nuances of the craft. He taught me for instance how to react to the situation and not for the screen. He taught me to remain within the script and what the character demands.

What do you think of Ameer the actor?

I am certainly impressed by his acting.

What films are you doing next?

I have a Malyalam film and Parthiban’s Vithagan in 2010 and I am looking at more scripts now.
