Sun Pictures acquires Mappillai

Rajnikanth’s yesteryear blockbuster ‘Mappillai’ remake featuring Dhanush and Jayapradha in lead roles was earlier produced by Nemikchand Jhabak and Hitesh Jhabak. Now, sources have confirmed that Sun Pictures has acquired complete rights over the film.

Starring Dhanush in lead role, Tollywood’s hottie Hansika Motwani will make her debut in Tamil Film Industry with this film. Yesteryear actress Jayapradha, who was back with a bang in Kamal Haasan’s ‘Dasavatharam’ and she will be delineated in the role of Dhanush’s mother-in-law.

Director Sooraj has already assured that it wouldn’t be an exact replica of Rajnikanth’s ‘Mappillai’ as merely the storyline has been picked by context. Vivek will accompany Dhanush adding more to the humor quotients.

It’s worth mentioning that Sun Pictures had produced Dhanush-Sooraj’s ‘Padikadhavan’ that turned to be a big grosser in box office.
