To be incisive, it all started when strict legislations were imposed about restricting English titles for Tamil movies. That simply turned around the situations into unexpected grounds. Perhaps, it was a nettlesome moment for few as certain filmmakers acquired title rights of yesteryear classics.
Need an illustration? ‘Nayagan’, ‘Ninaithale Inikkum’ ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’, ‘Vettaikaaran’ and more: indeed, JK Ritesh has already booked the title of ‘Thalapathy’ for his next film that hasn’t commenced with the shooting yet.
On the pars, few filmmakers who considerably try their best on innovative thinking have grounded on mirthful titles.
It’s best to be exemplified with Director Selvan’s ‘Maakkaan’, yet to be launched debutant Jai Gurudevan’s ‘Kallooli Mangan’. Although, these titles are turning to be attention-grabbing, they aren’t really sounding more magniloquent.
Well-renowned film historian Theodore Bhaskar had earlier commented, “Naming the present films with yesteryear titles isn’t a creative affair.
