If Dhanush is fond of resurrecting the titles of his father-in-law Rajinikanth, Vijay’s obsession for MGR titles is also well-known. In this golden moment of his career, Vijay’s 50th film is titled Urimaikural; the original had MGR and Latha in the lead roles. Coming after Vettaikaran, it promises a double delight for the legion of Vijay’s fans.
Just to refresh your memories, Vettaikaran was one of the rare films in which MGR acted opposite Savithri. For the matinee idol, the maximum number was with Saroja Devi (26) followed by Jayalalitha (18).
For the statistics minded, this will be Vijay’s first movie with Tamannaah; he joins music director Mani Sharma after Youth and Pokkiri. Another interesting facet is Pasupathy appearing as villain role after a long time. As `Pattas Balu’, Pasupathy had greatly contributed to the success story of Thirupachi.
The other big names in thie project are M.S. Prabhu (cinematography) and Rajeevan (art director).
