Sonia Agarwal

Rumour mills worked overtime Monday evening saying that Sonia Agarwal attempted suicide dejected over the break-up of her marriage with Selvaraghavan.

However, the actress’s family was quick to react to it claiming that she was ‘safe and well’ at their ancestral house in Chandigarh.

According to Sonia’s brother, “Why should my sister attempt suicide? She is staying with us in Chandigarh for the past few days. She is fit and fine.”

The actress and her filmmaker husband applied for a divorce at a family court in Chennai on Wednesday. Since the couple filed for divorce with mutual consent, it is expected that the legal proceedings would be completed soon.

There was a buzz a few months ago that the marriage of Selva and Sonia was on rocks. However they ‘proved it false’ by attending the audio release ceremony of ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ together. Sonia was one among the celebrities who lit the ‘kuthuvilakku’ at the event.

Sonia made her first appearance with ‘Kadhal Konden’ a film directed by Selvaraghavan that also had her brother-in-law Dhanush in the lead.
