Gnyabagangal – Movie Review

Incisively, the film is middling on many quotients and yet has the best show by Pa. Vijay and it's an appreciable debut by the lyricist. On the stands of various fields, the lyricist has expressed his adeptness and kudos for it. The film opens with Pa. Vijay's note on the film being based on the life of his close friend who had an unraveled last wish. Glimpsing through his Last Wish in his diary the lyricist takes on the film for a good show.

Kathiravan (Pa. Vijay) with the pen name of Meera Priyan is the recipient of National Awards for best Lyrics. Sooner, he heads for Haridwar to meet his former lover who's already married to another guy due to her parents forcing them. On the encounter with Meera (Sri Devika), the pages of their past lives before years back is revealed. But sooner, Kathiravan is exposed to shocking truths that Meera isn't leading a happy life as she's is a widow and lost all her wealth to debts. Kathiravan however extends his last wish that will surely move your hearts during climax portions.

The screenplay has been finely crafted and penultimate sequences could've been better trimmed. Director Jeevan should've focused on technical aspects too. There are certain amateurishness in few parts. Pa. Vijay does a good job on penning good screenplay adapting the style of 'Rain Coat' – A Hindi Film. Dialogues and lyrics are top-notching. Sri Devika goes for her best efforts.

Musical score by James Vick is feet-tapping.

On the whole, 'Gnyabagangal' has an efficient tale and it would've been better if it was yet more finely narrated.
