Madhya Chennai has all got to do with the slum regions of Chennai. Don't mistake the film to be a remake of 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Hold on, this is a film that has different notions of the protagonist.

Set at the backdrops of a slum in Chennai, the film is about an youngster from those region who goes onto become a film director. It's not just his dream, but he does so for the upliftment of the slum-dwellers who aren't leading a happy life. Prakash Raj plays the role of Guru Dutt, a filmmaker while Jayanth – the newcomer takes on the lead role with debutant Ramya Farna donning the female lead as Jeyanth's ladylove.

The film is made by duo Vivekanand-Veerasingam who earlier worked with Parthiban, the ducky protégé of Director Bharathiraja. According to the film directors, they have stated that the film has a social message and so relevant to common man would be able to relate to the story.'

The highlight of the film would be Maestro Ilayaraja's musical score… The film has 6 songs and according to the filmmakers, ever song has come out extremely well. Speaking about Prakash Raj, the duo directors are so excited as they utter that it was a wonderful experience working with him. Well, when it comes about Jeyanth, they say, 'The newcomer is sure to go gaga over the places..."
