Rumours trigger panic about polio vaccine

Rumours spread across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka about death of children after taking pulse polio created widespread panic and chaos.
Angry parents stoned hospitals and blocked traffic in many parts of the southern states including Chennai and Bangalore.
Problem started when a local channel reported on Sunday about 100 deaths after polio drops were administered.
In Chennai Government officials clarified that the two death reported in the state were not due to the polio vaccine.
