On Rajinikanth’s request director P.Vasu has cut some dialogues from Kuselan which his fans found objectionable. The irony of it was that the scene and dialogues were put in by Vasu to create a halo around the stars image, which has backfired!

Remember the famous Muthu classic dialogue - Eppo varuvein eppadi varuvein theriyadhu, vara vendiya nerathil varuvein.. For the man on the streets it was a clear indication that Rajinikanth would enter politics, which added to the star’s political clout in Tamilnadu. This kind of punch line political innuendos has not only helped Rajinikanth to create a larger than life image on screen but in real life too as he was made out to be bigger than any politician in the state!

Now in Kuselan, which released a day after his public apology over a Kannada channel, there is a scene where one of the characters played by R.Sunderrajan asks the superstar the uncomfortable question- “You keep on saying you will enter politics, but why are you hesitating?”. Rajinikanth who plays the superstar Asok Kumar in the film replies- “ I was just saying a dialogue written by a script writer, in one of my films. What can I do if you treat them as real, and expect me to enter politics?”

The other scene which was found objectionable by the fans was when the same character asks the superstar- “Why are you doing films with heroines half your age?” In the film the superstar character gets upset and asks others to kick out this character. According to sources the dialogue was inserted to give fitting reply to the superstar’s legion of critics.

But in real life the fans felt let down by Rajinikanth, as it looked like a true confession of the superstar. The fans wrote to Sathyanarayana, Rajinikanth’s fan club president, who thought that there was some truth in it. And rival fan members went to town using various media platforms, internet sites and blogs. These controversial dialogues tarnished the star’s image as it shows him as a flip flop man.

When this was pointed out to the superstar he called up P.Vasu and requested him to edit these scenes to assuage the feeling of his fans. Says P.Vasu: “When Rajini sir realized his fans were let down by the dialogue, he expressed his anguish to me. So I immediately had the scenes removed.”
