Being the protege of scintillating directors Ameer and Bala, Debutant Sasi Kumar makes a film that has lots of their touches. A realistic film that will let the audiences feel that it has got something that had happened in real life. Subramaniapuram centers on five unemployed youngsters played by Jai, Sasikumar, Kanja Karuppu, Visithiran and Mari.

These youngsters are none, but trouble makers who very often get into creating problems in the town and it’s the local Bigwig Thulasi (Samuthirakkani) who gets them out of the turmoil situation. In course of time, Thulasi’ brother loses to his opponent in the election of District Secretary and this makes him more frustrated.Jai is in love with Swathi, who is none other, heiress of Thulasi’s brother. With their lives moving on gleefully, both Azhagu (Jai) and Paraman (Sasi) have to bump off the opponent of Thulasi as a token of gratitude.

But Thulasi fails to keep up his word in getting both of them out in bail and this enrages Azhagu and Paraman. They wait for an opportunity to avenge Thulasi who cheated them, but they aren’t able to get out of prison. Meanwhile, one of the prison inmates assures them to get out and in turn they have to commit a murder. They accomplish doing it and also look out for Thulasi to polish him down.

Meanwhile, Thulasi making use of Swathi traps Azhagu and kills him. More frustrated, Paraman puts Thulasi to death. Unexpectedly, Paraman is murdered by group of unknown strangers and the film doesn’t end here. Who were those responsible for Paraman’s death and what happened to other 3 friends in the group forms crux of the story.

Rather than saying so and so have played the lead while others have donned prominent roles, it is worth saying that all the actors have breathed lives on the characters they have donned. Jai in more contrast to his previous film Chennai 600028, brims up with more matured performance. Director Sasi isn’t just a stupendous director, but excels well as an actor. Unlike in his previous films, Kanja Karuppu has a powerful character.

James Vasanth’s musical score is an enchanting aspect and turns out to be one of the highlighting features in the film. ‘Kangalirandaal’ is of a classical and mesmerizing tune.

Kathir’s cinematography is most highlighting aspect in the film and his detailed capturing of shots have enriched the entire film.

On the whole, Subramaniapuram is an excellent film to watch and would surely take Tamil Cinema to the next higher level
