Veyyil has won the 54th National Film Awards in the Best Tamil Film category for the year 2006. Veyil is a 2006 Tamil film directed by Vasantha Balan. Bharath and Pasupathy play the lead male roles where Bhavana, Priyanka and Sriya Reddy play the female leads. The film is produced by Shankar.The movie Veyil was earlier selected for screening at the prestigious Cannes film festival. It was the first Tamil language film screened at Cannes as part of the 2007 Cannes Film Festival under the ‘Tous les Cinemas du Monde’ section. The film also won the State Award for 2006. It also won the Film fare Best Director Award for Vasantha Balan.
The film is about the intense bonding and love between two brothers played brilliantly by Pasupathy and Bharat, against a village background of the Virudhanagar area.
